5 Ways to Generate Blog Content Fast
The number one thing that kills most blogs is that people cannot update them regularly. Maybe they lose interest or move on to other projects, or are just to busy. I’ll be honest, it’s happened to me before.
One thing you have to remember about blogging is that every single entry does not have to have to be absolute gold. For your blog to be successful, you will need some really great content and link bait, but those kinds of writings take time, and If you are a one-man operation, you usually can’t be chugging these out every single day. So here are 5 ideas for some quick blog postings, that help keep your site active.
1. Link Posts
Digg up a few links from around the web, link to them, and do a little write up about them. I do this once a week. Read blogs in your niche, look around social bookmarking sites and forums in your niche, and find a few things. You can also build some good karma with other bloggers in your niche, which can pay off with some nice dividends sometimes.
2. Video Posts
I’m not talking about doing videos yourself (although it’s not a bad idea). I’m talking about finding videos that relate to your niche, embedding them, saying a few setences about them, and then letting it fly.
3. Review Posts
Find a new product or website in your niche, and do a quick write-up with your thoughts about it. these can be only 200ish words, and shouldn’t be hard to write if you have a strong opinion about the object in question.
4.News Posts
Just follow news in your niche, and if something big happens, write about it. You can offer your opinion, and link to other big news sites as your source.
5. Article Directories
Sites like EZineArticles have articles that can be republished for free. If you are really struggling for content, you can grab one and put it on your blog. I personally am not a big fan of this method, as their are duplicate content issues with the search engines, but it is an option that is out there.
A word of caution: Don’t let your blog become just quick, shallow posts like this. You need good content to become successful, but posts like this can help keep your blog afloat when your bogged down.
Another good tip, though it’s not for everyone, is to used serialized content if your blog can do it. (The latest edition of WordPress has this feature) I do a lot of writing over the weekend, and then publish it throughout the week. This way, if something comes up and I’m unable to write, I still have some content coming out. This also frees up my time the rest of the week.
