Twitter & Squidoo
Twitter and Squidoo have had a lot of buzz around them lately, and I’ve been playing around with both, so I thought I would offer my two cents on these new social platforms.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t really get Twitter at first. It seemed like the Facebook status message trying to act as a stand-alone. After using for a little while though, I fell in love with it. As you see, I’ve added a Twitter widget to the sidebar, so anyone who checks the blog can easily check it too. It’s fun to use, although I wish I knew more people who had it. I hate that they have had so many server issues as of late, but It seems to have resolve those issues for now.

Squidoo
I’ve just started with Squidoo, making two lenses: One about Shona Sculpture for Mbare, and one about XML. I really like the fact that you can get paid for writing good, high-trafficed lenses, although like anything where you can make money online, it leads to some spammy pages. Squidoo recently got Googleslapped a little bit because of this, which has led them to take some more precautionary measures.
Making a Squidoo lens is an art unto itself, and I’m sure my lenses will get better with time. Neither one of those have really taken off yet, but I like that if gives you another interesting avenue to promote your site.
Overall, I think these are both really cool systems that will only continue to rise in popularity.
